Dredd research

The film was produced by Allon Reich, Alex Garland and Andrew MacDonald. The film was given the green light in 2009 when DNA films said that they were getting involved with the film. The distributors of the film were entertainment film distributors and lionsgate. The budget of the film was $45 million and it only made back $36.5 million. The writers for the film was again Alex Garland, he started to write Dredd in the post production of the film sunshine in 2006. A huge part of the film takes place in a tower block called "peach trees". He got that name from a restaurant that he want too. When Garland was writing the film he wanted to stay true to the comics, so for example in the comics Dredd never takes off his helmet, and also in the film Dredd has is signature weapon the lawgiver and his motorcycle the lawmaster. The director of the film was  Pete Travis, who has directed other films such as vantage point. The actors that were in the film were Karl Urban as judge Dredd, Olivia Thirlby as judge Cassandra Anderson, Wood Harris as Kay and Lena Heady as Ma Ma. In august 2012 the website to the film went up, it included a video about the slow-mo drug used in the film. then a comic book was made to tie into the film and it follows the life of Ma Ma when she was a prostitute, and an exclusive poster was shown at the fantastic fest in the summer. Although the film did not do well in the box office, it did to well with the critics, the Washington post said that is was the film that the dredd fans were looking for. The reason that the film did not do well is because the of the lack of marketing, there was  marketing but not enough of it and another reason why it did not do well is because the lack of a big name Hollywood star, Carl Urban is a good actor but he is not very known. The awards that it got was the best 3D film and the award was from empire award, the next award was for the TV spot, and it got the best thriller TV spot and that was given by golden trailer. The film was shot digitally and primarily in 3D using RED MX, SI2K and Phantom Flex high-speed cameras. Some scenes were shot in 2D and converted into 3D in post production. For the slow-mo scenes they used a Justin Bieber song but slowed it down and only used the instrumental, The film also features songs by artists including: "Poison Lips" by Vitalic; "Dubstride" by Yann McCullough and Gemma Kicks; "Snuffbox" by Matt Berry; "Pontiac Moon" by Robert J. Walsh; and "Jubilee (Don't Let Nobody Turn You Around)" by Bobby Womack. In my opinion i think that Dredd is a good movie and i would recommend it to people to watch, but i could not watch it too many times because the story would get boring and the special effects could have been better. But other than that i think that it's a good film and  i think Carl Urban did a great job in the film. Out of ten it would score a 7.5/10.

  1. Good research, but try to use bullet points to make your research more accessible. This is the work that you will revise from and use in essays.

Also, have a look again at the reason for the lack of success. The link i provided can only be accessed outside of college-there are comments about the film being 3D and the fact that not all cinemas showed the film in 3D. There are also other comments attributing the lack of success to other factors, all are worth considering.
